The chief operating officer of United Parcel Service's freight operations in Pennsylvania and New York, Jim Kimball, pointed out that freight forwarding companies like UPS, FedEx Corp., and the DHL freight network also manage enormous operations. This year, UPS is spending $22 million to expand its logistics complex in Bloomsburg, which is around 30 miles away from the Burlington Northern network. UPS plans to upgrade the cargo area's lighting, climate control, and box count. A new utility building will shortly be built, and the roof will be replaced. Connecting to freight networks was a must.
